FRIDAY FEBRUARY 28, 2020 : When planning our trip to Australia, the vision was that we would have our yearly Purim picnic lunch on March 10th with the family, say our long good byes to the kids and grand kids and then head to the airport that evening to begin our adventure.
However, life got in the way, and our plans became very different.
A month ago, my husband Mark learned that he was requested to attend (strongly requested) a meeting for work in Australia during the first week in March. The meeting ends only four days before our originally scheduled trip – so it made no sense for him to return home and then fly back with me to Australia
My vision of us on the plane, cuddled together, and looking at each other with awe and disbelief that we are actually doing this – that we are going to live the next few months in a campervan driving around Australia – is not going to happen.
Instead my husband flies to Australia on his own, and I will join him 10 days later.
Early this morning, Mark took off. And I am counting the days till I follow. The adventure has begun.
P.S. For those wondering what happened after our flights via Hong Kong were cancelled, our new route is via South Africa. We worked it out to have a few days with our daughter in Johannesburg along the way.
A few days with Sha and the kids. Way to turn lemons into lemonade!
